SPRAT Certification Levels Available

  • Level I Technician: For candidates with no prior rope access experience
    Level II Technician: For experienced Level I Technicians with a minimum of 500 hours and 6 months of documented industrial rope access experience as a Level I Technician required
  • Level III Technician: For experienced Level II Technicians with a minimum of 500 hours and 6 months of documented industrial rope access experience as a Level II Technician required
    Recertification: For maintaining current SPRAT credentials (all levels)

Course Structure

  • Days 1-4: Training in all required rope access skills and knowledge
  • Day 5: Formal evaluation by an independent SPRAT Evaluator
  • Evaluation Components: Written test and practical skills demonstration

Rope Access Certification Requirements

  • SPRAT certification requires demonstrating proficiency in specific skills for each level as defined in SPRAT’s Certification Requirements for Rope Access Work:

Level I Technician Requirements:

  • Successfully complete written and practical evaluation
  • Demonstrate proficiency in basic rope access maneuvers
  • Show competence in equipment inspection and basic rescue techniques
  • No prior experience required

Level II Technician Requirements:

  • Valid Level I certification
  • Minimum of 500 hours documented experience as a Level I Technician
  • Minimum of 6 months as a Level I Technician
  • Successfully complete written and practical evaluation

Level III Technician Requirements:

  • Valid Level II certification
  • Minimum of 500 hours documented experience as a Level II Technician
  • Minimum of 6 months as a Level II Technician
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • Successfully complete written and practical evaluation

Recertification Requirements:

  • Current or recently expired SPRAT certification
  • Demonstrate continued proficiency in all skills required at current level
  • Successfully complete written and practical evaluation

What to Bring

  • Comfortable clothing suitable for active training
  • Closed-toe shoes or boots
  • Water bottle and snacks
  • SPRAT logbook with documented hours (for Level II and III candidates)
  • Current SPRAT certification (for Level II, III, and recertification candidates)
